Over 1300 bookkeepers globally have decided to become Pure Bookkeeping licensees to help grow their businesses faster. However we’ve had other great bookkeepers, who are also committed to growing their business, decline the opportunity despite the fact that they KNOW that they are more likely to achieve their goals with the Pure Bookkeeping System than without it. Their reason? It’s just not the right time. There are other things happening in their life they have to focus on – for now. Then they contacted us out of the blue six months later saying they were good to go.
Timing is everything. Last time I urged you to make time to work ON your business and I received a response from a bookkeeper who was frustrated that she couldn’t make time to work ON her business because she was a single mum just trying to keep afloat. There was no doubt she was committed to growing her business, it just wasn’t possible for her right now and she felt like she was getting left behind.
My reply was “Timing is everything and your time will come. I didn’t start my bookkeeping business until I was 40 because of my choice to stay at home and raise our children. However I worked as a bookkeeper from when I was 18 to make sure, when the time was right, I was ready. Growing your bookkeeping business is not a sprint. It’s a journey”.
If you’re 10/10 committed to growing your business but you can’t dedicate 30 hours a week to it, be 10/10 committed to the time you have available and use it wisely. Keep up to date with legislation and software changes, implement effective marketing strategies, charge appropriately and choose your clients wisely. And keep in mind that you will probably need to recruit sooner to leverage their time. Then, when the timing is right, you’ll be off and running.
