Why you need to gain a new perspective on your bookkeeping business

Peter Cook, my business partner in Pure Bookkeeping and business coach for over 10 years, has great news. His wife Trish gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Scarlett, yesterday morning at 6.19am after IVF and a heroic 30 hour labour. She is 3340 grams (or about 7lbs 3oz in my language). Congratulations to you both. A new beginning as a family.

I know that Payment Summaries are due this week and being the busiest time of the year you may not have time to read and ponder over my thoughts so I’m going to keep it short and sweet. I’ve been amazed by the amount of feedback I have received in relation to last week’s Word – Your Terms. So many of you were able to relate to my message and had your own stories to tell of client’s treating you badly while at the same time realising that you allowed them to do that. Thank you so much for sharing that with me.

Just like Pete, Trish and Scarlett have a new beginning as a family I was so glad to hear that many of you have made a commitment to look at your business in a new light – a bit like starting over again, a new beginning. Only this time you have information, another perspective and your experience to arm you to change the way you do business.

Give yourself some time off in celebration of a job well done after the EOY is completed but set a reminder as soon as possible after that to get your house into order - this time on your terms. Perhaps 12/13 is a new beginning for your business and you’ll have a different story to tell this time next year.
