We all know that word of mouth is the easiest way to grow your business. We also tell you during the Seminars and Webinars that getting referrals from accountants are one of the best sources.
Here are a few tips:
- Be professional - From the first phone call to shaking hands at the end of the meeting (and everything in between). How you talk on the phone, your presentation and wording of your emails and documents you send are all vital in creating a professional image.
- Write down your “spiel” that you will say to the accountant on the phone when you arrange the meeting so that you don’t get flustered. Practice it on family and friends.
- Create a Powerpoint Presentation (or word document) that helps you tell your story. Include information such as your experience, qualifications, systems that you have set up and your costs. Also make sure you address any concerns they may have about referring bookkeepers such as how it can damage their reputation if they do a bad job. Practice it on family and friends until you feel comfortable.
- If you think you don’t know any accountants – think again! Contact your own accountant or the accountants of family and friends and ask to meet with them. Make sure you include the name of the person who referred you. When you’re there, ask them if they know any other accountants who would like to see your Presentation. Can you see the pattern here?
